This day dawned and UK is playing in the national championship tomorrow. Yesterday was a good day.

Cole and Juanita at the Kentucky Theater
And for those of us that celebrated responsibly, we can enjoy it without fearing that a video or picture will get us arrested. Personally, I walked through one of the crowded celebration sites near UK's campus, had a beer at a bar, and then got some cheese bread at a local pizza place.
They closed off the streets near a strip of restaurants to make sure people stayed safe
I don't really see the point in setting things on fire. And I don't think it's me getting older that makes me think that's stupid. FIRE IS STUPID! It is unforgiving and dangerous. And when everyone is drunk, it's hard to recognize the danger and control it properly. Thank goodness for the men and women of the Lexington and UK Police Departments for keeping the order.
They ensured we could all celebrate safely
The chaos of Lexington was restricted to a couple of areas that are full of off-campus student housing. Not all UK students or UK fans are like that though. Some of us just wanted to participate in the CATS cheer, share a pint of beer with friends, and then walk home so they can do homework the next day.
Yesterday was a fantastic day. I had a good interview in the morning (keep your fingers crossed!), I had a great "girls day" with Juanita where we got pedicures and then we watched the UK game at the Kentucky Theater. Let me just say that the atmosphere at the Kentucky was wonderful. I recommend this for anyone! And UK beat IU (revenge!) so I woke up very happy.
Good game last night, CATS! My bracket pretty much sucks already though. I don't know why I went against VCU again this year. I should've learned last year. But that's why they call it March Maaaaaadness!
Heading to brunch at Doodles today with Cole. This is our effort to correct our sleep schedules now that spring break is wrapping up. Today is another day I'll spend working DILIGENTLY on my capstone (and watching basketball games in the background). I wouldn't go so far as to say that I feel good about what I have so far but I do have something significant. That's something!
Today is UK's Homecoming. I haven't followed football much this year but I'm pretty sure this song is appropriate. ;) The Martin School is having a tailgate today and then I'm actually going to the game. Since it's a noon game with tailgating, today was another early day. I'm going to need to go to bed early tonight.

(In honor of my favorite player/senior, Darius Miller who is #1!)
There is nothing quite like being a UK Basketball fan. There are highs and lows. For most in Kentucky, your allegiance starts at an early age. And as much as you may end up "hating the establishment" or "disagreeing with college sports on principle" or whatever other principled stand you may take, rarely does true blue leave your blood. Once a fan, always a fan.
I don't have tickets to tonight's FIRST PRACTICE of the season. Oh that's right, I didn't tell you? We even sell out our open practices. And we're ranked #2 in the preseason. Boom. Roasted.
I did get an email that my season tickets (which I'm not sure I can give up even when I move away next year) are in the mail. Who's ready for some basketball dominance!?!?!?!
PS UK, this would be a great year for a championship. I mean, yes, every year is but I have a date with Woodland and Euclid and it's my last year in Lexington. Make this happen.
Perhaps it's blasphemy but I've been a fan since I was a kid and stood in line to meet Rick Pitino at the Paducah Chamber of Commerce (with a huge bag of stuff to sign). He was incredibly nice and this signature/note was the only one I kept for myself (it's in my Full Court Pressure book he authored).
There's a picture somewhere of me with Rick at the Chamber of Commerce dinner and I'm wearing a blue/white dress with blue socks and white keds. However, I searched my apartment for an hour and couldn't find it. My mom might kill me. Hopefully she has a copy. Mom?
