Day 340

#np - Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson

Confession:  I'm a HUGE Honey Boo Boo fan.  And for some reason I'm really in touch with my redneck side when I'm watching the show (Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on TLC).  Growing up, my family wasn't a redneck family.  We didn't do any of the stereotypical activities that you see on TV.  But I'm CRAZY protective of them.  I don't know what it is.  I feel the same need to defend when people make fun of Kentuckians.  I don't like it.  If you already don't like rednecks, for whatever reason you've come up with that couldn't possibly be simply because you've lumped them all into a group that you'd never want to be in or around, I suppose Honey Boo Boo (real name - Alana) and her family (Mama, Sugar Bear, Pumpkin, Chubbs, Chickadee, and Glitzy the pig) is a little much for you.  But I find them to be sincere and funny.

I just hope Honey Boo Boo doesn't hate herself when she is an adult.

Day 312

#np - Take A Little Ride by Jason Aldean

Off to Georgia with a new audiobook, Lakeside Cottage, on my iPod ready to go.  I listened to the first few chapters last night and it's great so far.  I didn't know that you could rent audiobooks online through the public library.  I'm hoping my travels are uneventful with the audiobook to keep me company.  Fingers crossed!

Day 270

#np - Kerosene by Miranda Lambert

In addition to writing today's post, I'm choosing songs for the next week as well.  While I'm IN DC I won't have access to my personal computer.  I don't want blogger coming up on my state laptop internet report so I will choose the songs now and then listen to them on my phone.  The blogger app isn't great for creating posts on the iphone though so you won't get much this week.  Just enjoy the music!  I'll report back on the fun things I did while also working in the nation's capital.  Have a great week!

Day 228

#np - This One's for the Girls by Martina McBride

As you know, I started this blog to celebrate each day leading up to (and including) my 30th birthday.  I've been celebrating each additional day I get here on the Earth.  Lately, however, I've found myself thinking of the qualities and traits I want to make sure I have or hone as I get older.  My friends in my masters program tease me and call me Momma Bopp.  It's mostly because I can be counted on to have a band-aid or a mini-stapler in class.  But I hope it is for other reasons, too.  I hope people can tell how much I love.  I hope that comes through in everything I do.  I care and I love and I fight.

I listened to today's song twice this morning.  Once for the dance with Barkley and once to really hear the words.  I want to be woman that loves without looking back and dreams with everything she has.  I want every laugh line on my face to tell a story.  If I can die with a wrinkly old face and a smile, I'll be happy.  Here's to hoping.

Also, this is finals/graduation week.  I can't believe it's here.

Day 186

#np - Somthin' 'Bout a Truck by Kip Moore

There are days when I just want to buy a truck (to haul things, ya know) that's too big for me and just drive around town and down back country roads.  I don't know where this impulse comes from but I should probably bring someone with me when I'm ready to buy a new car someday.  Someone who will say "Tara, you really don't need a truck.  How about a nice Chevy Volt or something?".  It's just that in spite of their gas mileage and size, I just want one so bad!

Day 179

#np - Drink in My Hand by Eric Church

Up just in time to see UK play (for the second day in a row).  Today they're playing for the SEC championship.  GO CATS!  BEAT VANDY!

Day 137

#np - What Was I Thinkin' by Dierks Bentley

Last night Juanita and I had dinner and did a little shopping. Our night wrapped with a serious discussion about the merits of country music (Dierks, in particular) and drinks from Sonic.  I love unexpected fun times with my closest friends.

Day 130

#np - Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks

I was looking for a country song for today and found this one.  I love it and I hate that Garth doesn't put his songs on iTunes.  Lame.  But what really got me was this video.  It's of a normal party, probably a college one, and then that kid starts pretending to play the guitar.  Toward the end of the video, if you look closely though, you can tell he's holding the guitar backwards.  I just laughed out loud watching it and thinking how they could easily be most of my friends.  This song just brings people together, man.

Day 88

#np - Devil Went Down To Georgia by the Charlie Daniels Band

In six days I'll be on winter break.  Thank goodness.  I just have to hold out a little longer.  School kicked my butt this semester. In the meantime, there will be NO selling of my soul for good final grades or job offers.  *rinse and repeat*
